Senior Shih Tzu in Need! Euless, TX - This is Dallas. He belonged to my grandmother who recently passed away. I have too many dogs of my own to take him in and I do not want to take him to a shelter. He's a pure bred Shih Tzu. He is 12 years old and a very sweet boy although he can be temperamental sometimes. He needs a home that does not have small children. He gets along well with other dogs once he gets to know them. He is neutered and up to date on shots. $50 rehoming fee to help ensure a good home. Contact Cassie at cstokes743@gmail.com

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Giving Ellie up is totally heartbreaking for the family, but they have to consider the safety of their child first and Ellie is not a good fit with small children. Read Ellie's story below and please contact Courtney if you can possibly provide Ellie with a loving home-just no small children please!! Time is pretty important here too, so if anyone can foster Ellie, Trinity GAP Rescue will take her in and continue networking to find her a home. GAP needs a foster!! If you can foster, contact trinitygapclub@gmail.com and if you are interested in adopting, please contact Courtney at 210-219-6385 or courtneyleaverton@gmail.com. She will make ... (Read More)someone a fabulous pet in the right home!! Please give her a chance! Thank you! Ellie is our 7 year old yellow Lab mix. She came to us from HSNT in Keller and I'm pretty sure she was there twice before we got her. Given her initial disposition and fear of men in particular we are not sure what happened to her as a puppy, but we are certain it wasn't good. We've had her about 6.5 years and she has come such a long way. She did not initially like men, but now she welcomes guests and is sweet to anyone who will give her love. She is terribly afraid of storms, but once she figured out that she could seek refuge in our tiny 1950's shower all was well! She was so good when it was just my husband Jeff and me, but having a child has upset Ellie's normal family dynamics, I guess. She is such a sweet and loving dog to us, and I thought she would welcome another family member without any issues. And that brings us to the reason we sadly need to find her a new home-she bit our child. It was definitely a 'please get away from me' bite, not an 'I want to injure you' bite, but nonetheless I want to be completely candid, she did bite her and break the skin a little. She has seemed afraid of our little girl, but besides growls has not been outwardly aggressive until this incident. As much as I hate to re-live the incident, I was totally at fault for letting our baby stay by her when Ellie was already growling. Generally if she is afraid of someone or something she walks away (or scampers away). I don't know how to best word it because she is not aggressive, just was scared in the moment, warned with a growl, then took it too far when the child was not removed quickly enough. Believe me we are devastated about this whole incident-we love Ellie so very much and this is just totally breaking out hearts, but we feel we have to make this extremely hard decision to find Ellie a new home for the safety of our child. Ellie is current on her shots, fixed and we're consistent about giving her monthly heart worm meds. We just went to the vet and got her annual exam and she's healthy and set for the year. This continues to be a terrible situation for us--I've shed tears pretty much every night straight for over two weeks. I look forward to hearing from anyone who can hopefully give Ellie the home she deserves. I think she would be great in any home without small children Please contact me for more information or to schedule a meeting. I can be reached at 210-219-6385 or courtneyleaverton@gmail.com I'm attaching her pictures, as you can see she's been a real part of this family which makes this all hurt so much more. This has been an awful nightmare, but I remain faithful that she will find a loving home. Courtney (Less)

Animal ID: 17505 FosterScamper (female)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Scamper #17505 - Scamper had a recent trip to the vet and now has a clean bill of health. She is spayed, UTD on shots, and heartworm negative. Scamper weighs about 24 pounds but could stand to put on a couple more and was estimated by the vet to be about 4 years old. Scamper is a smooth coat cocker spaniel mix (possibly beagle?) and has the bob tail to boot. She knows how to sit and is very food-motivated. Scamper appears to be house broken and her foster mom keeps her in the kitchen while she is gone at work or out running errands. Scamper has two canine foster siblings and two feline foster sisters and gets along well with all of ... (Read More)them. She is still learning how to play with the bigger dogs and gets scared from time to time when they chase her, but it's just a learning curve. Scamper doesn't bother the cats at all even when they are in close proximity. Sadly, some man probably scared Scamper early on in life and she hasn't forgotten it because she seems to have some fear of men. Foster mom and her friends are working on that with lots of patience and treats - lots of treats! In addition to her love of treats, Scamper loves to go for a walk! We have been using a front hook harness with her and she does great with that. If you are looking for a little sweetheart who would love to be by your side, please consider meeting Scamper today. Animal ID: Red-M.S.Red (male)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

2 for 1 Adoption fee if adopted together!! Let's keep this pair together!! Cookie and Red came into GAP foster together. Their owner, a US veteran who suffered from dementia, was removed from her home, leaving her two dogs all alone. Fortunately, a kind neighbor saved them and contacted GAP! Cookie and Red are current on shots and fixed. Cookie is a 6-year-old black mouthed cur mix and is gorgeous. She is Red's protector, although she is about half his size. Cookie does not do well with cats. She can also get protective of Red at the dog park, so if they are adopted together, that may not be the best place for them to visit ... (Read More)together. Cookie is extremely smart and obedient. She will push your hand to exactly where she wants to be pet. She wants very much to please you, and sometimes she cannot help her cur-like ways. She is a hunter, a cattle dog, and an alpha female. She has the softest, silkiest fur especially around her face. She is a gorgeous dog and her temperament is exactly as a pure Cur would be. Please read up on her breed to understand her personality. Red, on the other hand, is a gentle and sweet big ol' boy who does what Cookie tells him to do and not much more. He is very docile and funny. He is a big guy but would not hurt a fly. He is a hound with a lot of Rhodesian Ridgeback in him and is also a very attractive dog. Both dogs do well on a leash and are learning quickly how to go for a jog. They are improving rapidly with consistency. They obviously love each other, but they do not need to be adopted together although that would be optimal. In order to be adopted together, they would need to be the only dogs in the home. Both dogs would like to spend a little time in a large yard. Red likes to just hang out and roll around in the grass, and Cookie would do well with some squirrels to chase. Animal ID: Cookie-M.S.Cookie (female)

Black Mouth Cur Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

She loves her new stuffed blue toy, and we think this baby may never have had a toy before! Kamri appears to be a year old Anatolian Shepherd/cattle dog mix. Animal ID: BoardingSir Toro (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sir Toro appears to be a boxer/lab mix who was going to be put down in an over crowded shelter when his owner was unable to keep him. An animal control officer at the shelter contacted an animal advocate to please help save him. He had won her over with his funny personality. Thankfully, a very generous lady stepped up to help save him, and is sponsoring his boarding while he waits for his forever home. After getting to know Sir Toro, we realize that he is a very sweet dog, who loves people and enjoys playing ball, cuddling, and going for car rides. However, he has a tendency to want to guard his people, so if you have lots of ... (Read More)company, he probably is not the dog for you. We feel it is best that he be adopted to a single person or couple without children. If you live alone, or want an inside dog who tends to be protective, then he might be a perfect fit for you. Animal ID: FosterJackson (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jackson - formerly Mack - #15331 - Boxer/Pit Bull/American Bulldog - About 3 years old and 60 lbs - Neutered and vaccinated Jackson is an absolute love bug!! He wants nothing more than to be with is his people and make them happy. He is completely crate and potty trained and is a superstar with a doggy door. He's probably the worst guard dog on the plant - because he just licks all strangers to death. Unless of course, the invader is a squirrel...critters don't stand a chance with Jack around! He loves to ride in the car and does great on road trips!! His legs have magic springs, so he can clear most anything in a single bound. He's ... (Read More)never tried to leave our fence, but he's certainly tried to pursue critters beyond the fence. Jackson is great with all humans of all shapes and sizes. He's perfectly gentle with small children, although he doesn't quite understand kids on scooters (he wants to catch them!). On the flip side, Jackson has clearly had some trauma in his life with other animals and is not trustworthy around other dogs or cats. For this reason, we recommend he be an only pet! But again, he's great with humans and loves to be out and about with his people. Please, help him find a new family and home where he can receive the same love that he so freely has to offer!! Animal ID: Foster HomeRita (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Half Price Adoption Fee $37.50!! Sweet little Rita. 7 months old, was brought into the shelter by a man who found her out wandering the streets. He took good care of her but could not keep her. Rita is super sweet, even sleeping with us the first night she stayed here. She is used to house noises so think she used to be indoor kitten. She also likes wand toys and laser chasing lights. She is very leery of my dogs so think she has not been exposed or at least to my big mooses. She is tolerant of my male foster kitten but has not played with him yet. They hang out in same room. I think she would like a quiet household, maybe a calm child ... (Read More)or adult to play and cuddle with. I brought her home to recoup after being spayed but now think she is easy to live with and will foster so she doesn't have to go back to the shelter. Come see sweet Rita in Euless. GAP does not test for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and it is up to the adopter if they wish to have these tests and to pay for that charge. Animal ID: 17270 BoardingMarlon Brando (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Marlon Brando ID 17270 - Marlon Brando is gorgeous classic orange tabby. His marbling is so unique and I tried to capture that on his body pictures. I see more gray classics then orange so thought he was quite beautiful. He also has a bright orange nose so thought about Jimmy Durante for a name but thought his friendly seductive nature was more like Brando. Marlon Brando was brought in with 2 other cats, also young males like himself but they were already neutered and he is not, (yet) so probably not related but good buds. Brando is sweet and loves attention and to be petted and reciprocates in loud purrs. Look no further than the ... Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Reduced adoption fee of $60!! Contact foster mom Melissa at mkgoellner@gmail.com for more info! Nora has really grown up to be a beautiful cat! She's really coming out of her shell little by little. I have made progress where she would rub on me and pur for attention in the bathtub and she will allow you to pet her on the cat tree or if she's sleeping. She would do best as a companion cat for another cat. She's very social with cats just not people. He's a wonderful dog and will make a wonderful pet for some lucky family!! Contact foster dad Bill at youcalltheshots@mac.com for more information!! Jaxson #16975 is from the Carrollton Shelter, and was in danger of being euthanized there before he was transferred to the Euless shelter. Animal ID: FosterElsa (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet Elsa had a rough start in life and was let down several times by several people. She was severely burned on her private area as a young puppy. After coming to rescue and getting the treatment she needed she was adopted a few times and was not given the attention or time that she needed and now has lasting issues but has been with me as my foster for over a year and has come so far. She is a great dog and loves people very much. She is great with kids as well! She is house trained and crate trained and loves to cuddle. However she can be dog reactive and has been in training for her dog aggression and is doing so great. She does great ... (Read More)with my dogs and fosters after she takes time to get use to them. Elsa would do best in a home as an only pet or with someone that can give her time to adjust to the existing pets and knows how to do proper dog introductions. Elsa can jump a six foot wooden fence so she must be monitored when in the backyard or needs an 8 foot fence. I keep her on a long line (just a really long leash) in the backyard so she cants jump my fence. I would highly recomend this for her. Elsa is about 3.5 years old now and weighs about 50 lbs. She is so sweet and does not deserve anything that life has dealt her. She needs a true forever home that will love her as family and give her the attention and care she so deserves. Elsa has an e-collar, no jump harness, a long line, and a muzzle that have all been donated to her and will go to her new home with her. Animal ID: 14763 Foster HomePancho aka Brazos (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pancho (ID14763) Pancho is almost 3 years old and about 55 lbs. He is up to date with all his vaccines and vet visits. Pancho has always been very shy and scared when meeting new people; it took him a good week to get used to me and to his new home, but after that, he has been nothing but gentle and playful. Pancho is very smart, he can sit, shake, lay down and somewhat roll if we are in luck, he also knows to stay (not for too long though) and is very gentle when receiving his treats. Pancho has a lot of energy, he really enjoys being outside and playing. He does tend to pull when on a leash but is much better know than he was a ... (Read More)couple years ago. He does need exercise regularly, the more the better. Pancho sleeps on his own pillow in the hallway and knows that is his spot, but he sometimes likes to sneak into the room in the middle of the night and lay on the floor at the foot or side of the bed, he is a good roommate. He is currently not allowed on furniture and respects that very well. Pancho is great with kids, playful but gentle. He does tend to get very excited when somebody comes in, but always with joy and energy. We recommend no kids under 10. He gets along great with other dogs, wanting to play all the time. His two weaknesses are squirrels and cats. he definitely still needs to learn how to control his excitement around them, so I would recommend a cat free environment for him. I want to find Pancho a good loving family that wants and is willing to take care of him. I am relocating for work and will not have the space or time that he deserves; it breaks my heart to leave him, but it would be harder not to provide him with the proper attention and environment. Pancho appears to be a border collie/lab mix. Contact foster Mom Michelle at mssquared@hotmail.com for more information! (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Regan has adjusted VERY well since being here. He just wants to be loved. After spending many weeks in a kennel, I took the chance that Regan just needed to burn off a LOT of pent up energy. Many people judged him as being aggressive, but I felt the only thing wrong with Regan was he needed to be active. Sure enough, I introduced him to our small pack, and he became a completely different dog. Regan's age and breed cries out for activity. It didn't take long at all for him to warm up to our dogs, and began playing with them. He will chase a ball for as long as you will throw it. His perfect home would have another medium to large dog that ... (Read More)will play with him, and a doggie door. He does not like cats. I sincerely believe with the right trainer/training, this sweet boy can learn ANYTHING. I am very impressed with him. Someone is going to end up with a GREAT dog. Needs a home with another dog as he is very playful and loves canine companionship!! He is not kennel/crate trained, but IS doggie door trained. (Regan is not good with cats so should be in a No Cat Home!! Also no birds!! Brings out the Pointer instincts in him!!) I am available to any and all questions!!
